The data comes from the 5th China's population census
in 2000. It contains important population information in 31 provinces,
autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the central
government (excluding that of Hong Kong S.A.R., Macao S.A.R. and Taiwan
Province), and some cities, for example, population migration status,
marital status, educational level and employment status, etc.
The abundant information obtained from the census will be favoring
for analyzing the situation of China population problem, realizing
population development trend, and drawing relevant policy. Deeply
developing and utilizing the information will surely bring positive
role and extensive effect to the population and development of China,
as well as of the whole world.
This data set will remarkably react on researching China's industry
and agriculture production, scientific research, education, commerce,
banking, insurance, urban and rural area's construction, labor and
employment, and other social projects. And it will be established
in December 2001.
